Fun with Stats

Well the on-line course I started, on data science and programming, has caused me a bit of a headache this week with a few more hours than I expected messing about with getting functions written. And then re-written to work with the submission system. It has helped me think a lot more around the requirements and what I can get my head around for programming and hopefully I will find it a bit better now I have looping down.

Anyway hopefully back to some more painting later this week too....

Motivation....

One of the hardest things with life can be getting motivated to get things going. It is so easy to get distracted with new shiny things and have other shiny things after that. So to try and get myself motivated I am listing out my objectives for the next few weeks...
1 - Data science course - nothing to do with this blog but need to get on with
2 - Super Dungeon Explore board... posts on this soon
3 - Epic Thunderhawks - paint and base
4 - Epic Titan Legion

Not sure how far these will get but hopefully these will all move forward. The only risk on the horizon is dead... zombies and solo gaming with Zombicide is calling me but I am going to try and keep this to one side for at least a month....

Thunderhawk Alternative - Few photos

I managed to get a few moments to take a few pictures of the GZG Ravager Light Carrier next to an old school Thunderhawk model - this is the first of the Epic models after they released the 28mm scale in the mid 90's. The newer versions, either from GW itself or Forgeworld are larger but this is the only one I have to compare against.

You can see the length difference - mostly due to the engines. The relative flatness of the GZG model is also clear but my moding skills have so far let me down in both trying to build a pod or trying to recast a section from the bottom of the Thawk to add on. I will carry on my experiments for a little bit longer - otherwise it is no more out of scale than the older model so will go as is.

Thunderhawk Alternatives

I have been hunting around for an alternative to the venerable Thunderhawk model from GW - they go for a pretty penny on Ebay and while I have two currently I would like to have a whole wing of them for inserting marines deep into enemy territory and controlling vast areas of the board.

After thinking hard about some models I decided to go for this little number by Ground Zero Games...

GZG THawk Alternative
Two have turned up in super fast time and I now need to put a few tweaks to make it perfect and I will post up some comparison pics soon. My first thoughts are that they work really well and are a lot longer than the version of the THawk that I have but are a lot flatter. I plan on putting a cargo pod under to carry the troops and make it more a generic transport which could also be used for tanks etc.

So defiantly thumbs up for this one - lets hope it looks good with the pod (if I can make one) and that I can post some size comparisons soon.

Back to life...

Short one this - I am going to try and resurrect this blog with some new ideas. I have some Thunderhawk proxies to test out soon and am looking to get my pre-heresy World Eaters up to a good size with plenty of fast attack and assault infantry.

Lets hope I can post something on this in the next week.
